Here are some pictures taken from my second visit at the Night Market in Jaffa’s Pishpeshim last Thursday. I believe the night market here is unique, not only in Yafo Tel-Aviv, but in the whole of Israel, or are there any other elsewhere? Even after a long tiring week, we still had the energy to go there – the night fortunately this time of summer is still cool, and so it was more convenient to roam around the market, unlike during daytime. Aside from the fine wares being sold (albeit quite expensively, I observed), there are the street shows (“Froggie” seem to be a permanent character in the flea market), and the bands in the middle of the market.

I thought it’s going to be difficult to take pictures of the planes, jets and helicopters flying over the city of Tel Aviv as part of the Air Show during 60th Independence Day of Israel. (Again, Happy Birthday Israel!) Surprisingly, I realized I made some really nice shots (according to my own standards). Most of the shots that I made were taken atop the Jaffa Hills, where we also viewed the afternoon show. But a few were taken just outside our Even Shoshan, Yafo apartment.

Great Sights - and boating, rowing and fishing activities at Yaffo Port and the Jaffa Beach are what makes me want to go there every Friday and Saturday mornings. I took these pictures during the week of the Israel National Day Celebration.

People are everywhere at Tel Aviv – Yaffo, today May 8, Israeli Independence Day – Yom Ha’Atzmaut. As we went to the Jaffa Beach to see the Naval and Air Show (sailboat and ships on the Mediterranean Sea; jets and planes flying the clear, blue Israeli skies) in celebration of the occasion, we passed by the Clock Tower at Yefet Street, which was decorated with Israeli flags as well as numerous blue and white buntings. Happy Birthday to the State of Israel!

The weather’s getting hot in Tel Aviv – and so what’s the best place to go to but the beach. There is the Jaffa beach, and also the Tel Aviv beach – and all the vast expanse of the Mediterranean Sea and all its cool waters for everyone to enjoy. Shot taken from the area of the Marina Hotel.

It is almost the end of Jewish holiday of Passover in Israel, yet fishermen at Yafo-Tel Aviv’s Jaffa Port offered little to sell to eager fish lovers (me included). Some resort to doing some fishing themselves, like these two friends below sitting back to back, waiting for some trophy fish to bite on their baits. Hopefully next week, more freshly caught Danis and St Peter’s Fish to buy. Hag Pesach Sameach!

Had I got spare time, I would love to work as a volunteer for the Israel Antiquities Authority group doing archeological work. I am always thrilled whenever I imagine becoming a part of those Israeli archaeology groups – unearthing of Israel’s rich ancient history. I noticed that many excavations are regularly being done in many Tel Aviv places, here in Jaffa included especially on the area of Pishpeshim. Archaeological diggings right now is happening at the road going to Jaffa Port.
